Father’s Day is coming up and my son has really been wanting to pry me away from that old, broken down gas grill. Admittedly, the best thing about a gas grill is the speed and convenience, but temperature is hard to dial in with accuracy and consistency, whether it’s high temp searing or a low-and-slow cook. Half the time I’d end up using the gas stove and a cast iron skillet instead. And, for smoking ribs or pork shoulder there’s a completely separate electric smoker taking up space on the patio (gathering dust)!
As far as taste…well, at least it’s meat and not a manufactured unbelievable burger. But in truth, buddies who cook over coal or natural wood have always had a huge edge.
