Brent Kassing is a US-based corporate consultant who was suddenly inspired to volunteer on an international mission in Haiti and since has made numerous trips to the Amazon region of Brazil with Ray of Hope (a non-profit seeking to “transform the lives of children and families in the villages scattered along the edge of the Amazon river”). Brent began the volunteer work seeing himself as a net contributor of organizational skills and disciplines brought from the corporate world. However he’s come to realize much more in return personally and even professionally.

“As difficult as it was for me to understand and appreciate uncertainty, I’ve come to embrace it. We will get where we’re going when we get there. We will start when we begin. We finish when we’re done.”

– Brent Kassing

Brent has written a paper which is the topic of this week’s podcast discussion – 5 Lessons Businesses Can Learn from a Team of Missionaries.

Want to get involved? See the link below for more information on the Ray of Hope Amazon organization, their work, and how to contribute as a volunteer or donor.

“Life is hard. Careers are hard. We all have our ups and downs. However, each success or failure comes with great lessons from which we can learn. It’s critical that we use those lessons to improve upon our own career or life, and also to focus on how we can help those who live within our community, at our employers and clients and for those around the world.”
