Rachel Watters came from a broken home, battled an eating disorder for nearly a decade, and struggled with insecurity, low self-esteem, and debilitating emotional pain. In 2015 she found herself at the start line of a Spartan Race, terrified by the same self-doubt. Working through the course, obstacles, fears, failures, and finally the finish line permanently changed Rachel’s mindset and beliefs.
“We do not have to be defined by our history or our mistakes. Instead, we can continuously progress towards becoming the best versions of ourselves, on and off course.”
– Rachel Watters
Since that first race, Rachel has grown into one of Obstacle Course Racing’s top elite-category athletes. Each competition has transformed her as a person, building resilience. Each obstacle and failure has developed confidence. Rachel calls OCR the greatest gift of her life. As she continues to pursue the best version of herself, Rachel shares her history, successes, set-backs, and lessons as a way to support and inspire life-changing results in others.
“The gift that I hope to give to the world is to share the transforming and life-changing results that OCR can bring and to encourage others to sign up for their first race…and to start their own personal journey toward their best self.”
– Rachel Watters

RACHEL WATTERS
Rachel Watters completed her first obstacle course race (OCR) in March of 2015 and was hooked immediately. Overcoming obstacles on the race course showed her that she was capable of more than she had ever realized and that this mindset was transferable into everyday life. Crossing the finish line that day was the most difficult thing that Rachel had ever physically done and it ultimately changed her life.
Since then, Rachel has gone on to compete and repeatedly win at the elite level of the sport, having participated in a multitude of different OCR events ranging from 3 kilometers upwards to 24 hour endurance races. Notable accomplishments include more than 10 Spartan Elite podium finishes, top placements in numerous other notable race series, podiums at the United States and North American Championship Races, and 5th place Pro Female at the 2019 World’s Toughest Mudder 24 hour event.
Through her adventures in OCR, Rachel has met incredible athletes overcoming adversity unimaginable to most – trauma victims, Veteran amputees, racers on the road to recovery from addiction, participants diagnosed with terminal illnesses, and so many other situations that have inspired and touched her. The experiences sparked Rachel’s mission to share her own adversity, experiences, and growth in order to help others to overcome challenges, remove barriers of self-doubt, and work towards becoming their best self.
